Mullery Praised for Work on Jobs for Minorities
Hector Garcia, executive director of the Council on Latino Minnesotans and coordinator of jobs efforts for the Council on Black Minnesotans and the Council on Asian Minnesotans said:
Representative Mullery,
I am writing to express appreciation for your consistent support of the Latino and other minority communities. In particular, I thank you for having authored HF645, which had the distinct merit of establishing a collaborative effort among the Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans, the Council on Black Minnesotans and the Chicano Latino Affairs Council to reduce unemployment in our communities.
Your willingness to meet with and listen to us and our communities' representatives, followed by the introduction of bills such as the one mentioned, have been exemplary. In the process, you have reinforced the Councils' role as advisors to the Legislature and fostered the essential engagement of minority and immigrant communities in the democratic process.
