(ST. PAUL) – In response to this afternoon’s severe storm that tore through North Minneapolis, State Representative Joe Mullery (DFL-Minneapolis) released the following statement:
“I witnessed the devastation of the storm driving around our neighborhoods after it passed. I spoke with neighbors and storm victims who were concerned about the cleanup and repair of their homes and property. There were trees everywhere, I’m just shocked at the devastation.
“I spoke with House leadership and requested disaster aid for the affected areas. I am fighting for disaster funding in the bonding bill if a special session is necessary. FEMA is being contacted for federal help.
“People should be aware of scams from crooks looking to capitalize on this disaster. Double check the track record of contractors and insurance adjusters before committing to any repair projects. The Minnesota Department of Commerce is a helpful resource to verify contractors and insurance adjusters. The Consumer Response Team can be reached at 651-296-2488. Residents can also call the city’s 311 help line regarding contractors and for non-emergency debris notification and removal. For other disaster assistance the Red Cross can be contacted at 612-871-7676."
