COMMUNITY NOTICE
SAFE PATIENT HANDLING
Every licensed healthcare facility in the state must adopt a written policy establishing a plan to achieve by 2011 the goal of minimizing manual lifting of patients by nurses and other direct care workers by utilizing safe patient handling equipment. This is a way to protect workers from injury, and in the long run, will cut down on the workers’ compensation costs.
