Due to the fact that there is such a food shortage for food shelves and other donations of food to the poor, we authorized the payment of $70 to any meat processor who processes a deer donated to a charitable food program. That fund will be paid for by a new $5 non-resident hunting license fee and from a $1 surcharge on bonus licenses to take deer.
Fishing contests will now have to charge a certain fee to cover the costs of permitting and monitoring the contests. The fee can be waived for certain charitable functions.
The DNR can issue free deer and small game licenses for residents discharged from the military in the preceding two years, and the spouse of a resident on active military duty can obtain resident fishing and hunting licenses.
