East Side Residents Have Reason to Celebrate With Opening of Completed Phalen Boulevard
Thank you to all of those who came out on October 15th to celebrate the opening of the final stretch of Phalen Boulevard. Thanks most of all to the residents of the East Side and the community leaders who have worked so hard for over a decade to make the Phalen Corridor a resounding success.
Residents of the East Side had many reasons to celebrate this weekend. Phalen Corridor has brought together a remarkable combination of community groups, businesses and local, state and federal government. I was proud to be a part of this collaboration by securing funding at the Legislature to purchase land and pay for environmental cleanup along the Corridor. The vision of combining new housing, new jobs, better transportation and green space to revitalize the East Side is, step by step, becoming a reality. The success of this project is not measured by the national awards it has received, but by the rebirth of a vibrant neighborhood that works for all of its citizens.
