LOCAL SCHOOL HONORED FOR HIGH ACHIEVMENT
ST. PAUL – Today, Minnesota Business Partnership will honor Farnsworth Aerospace Magnet Elementary School in St. Paul for high performance in the face of adversity. In recognition of the school's high achievement teaching low-income students, Farnsworth will not only receive acknowledgment for its outstanding achievements, but $10,000 and computer equipment as well.
Minnesota Business Partnership chose Farnsworth for this award, among all Minnesota schools serving high populations of students from low-income families, based on consistent high performance on test scores over the past four years. According to Minnesota Business Partnership's Jim Bartholomew, Farnsworth stood out among other schools as one of the most improved elementary schools in the state.
Rep. Tim Mahoney (DFL – St. Paul) will attend the recognition dinner tonight, and offers his congratulations to the students, teachers, staff, and administrators of Farnsworth Elementary for their achievement.
"With limited resources, Farnsworth has done what many schools throughout the state have not been able to accomplish," said Mahoney. "I know I speak for our entire community when I say this; we are proud of what Farnsworth students have achieved, and we are grateful for the hard work and dedication of those who made their achievements possible. Farnsworth is an incredible school, and it deserves this high honor."
