Area legislators to hold town hall meetings

Senator Larry Pogemiller, Representative Phyllis Kahn and Representative Diane Loeffler are holding a series of town hall meetings to keep constituents informed of the 2011 legislative session and to help citizens better understand important issues that will effect Minneapolis.

“Minnesota is facing a $5 billion budget deficit," said Sen. Pogemiller. “What happens in the next few weeks will affect our communities. We invite citizens to attend one of these local town meetings to provide input, stay informed and be involved in the community.”

“Town meetings are designed to be listening and learning sessions. We want to hear your ideas on how to make government work better for our communities, what legislative priorities we should focus on, and how we can better lead the state,” said Rep. Kahn.

“This session is especially important,” Rep. Loeffler said. “Tough choices will be made in balancing the state’s budget. Many of the services that we use every day, and are protected by Governor Dayton’s budget, have had deep cuts proposed. Your priorities and opinions are of great importance to us.”
