ST. PAUL — State Representative Phyllis Kahn (DFL – Minneapolis) was named today to Government Technology magazine’s 2011 list of the “Top 25 Dreamers, Doers, and Drivers in Public Sector Innovation." Rep. Kahn is the fourth Minnesotan to be named since the magazine began the list in 2002.
“It is an honor to be recognized by Government Technology,” said Rep. Kahn. “Throughout my entire career, I’ve worked to make Minnesota government more efficient and more prepared for the future.”
Since 2002, Government Technology magazine has used their March issue to recognize 25 people who have used technology to improve government performance, boost efficiency and strengthen citizen services. Government Technology highlighted Rep. Kahn’s work in passing Minnesota’s first computer-crime law in 1989, her efforts to move the state toward electronic licensing and reform the accounting system, and her current goal of merging Minnesota’s 38 data centers into one larger center.
“People too frequently forget the immense impact of technology in our day-to-day lives, especially with regards to how government functions. My goal is to prove to others that investing in technology can have a strong, positive impact for government and our future,” Rep. Kahn added.
Government Technology covers information technology's role in state and local governments. Through in-depth coverage of IT case studies, emerging technologies, and the implications of digital technology on the policies and management of public sector organizations, Government Technology chronicles the dynamics of governing in the information age.
The “Top 25 Dreamers, Doers, and Drivers in Public Sector Innovation” issue of Government Technology will be released in early March.
