On National Teacher Appreciation Day, Rep. Hausman Praises Teachers
In acknowledgement of National Teacher Appreciation Day, State Representative Alice Hausman thanks teachers for all their work:
“I will never forget Mrs. McMullen my high school English teacher. After giving us an assignment to write an essay to showcase our writing skills, she revealed that one essay would be chosen to be heard over the PA system. You can imagine my surprise, when I heard my essay recited for all the school to hear. Without knowing that it was my essay that was chosen, Mrs. McMullen began using my essay as a prime example of literary structure. Although I was too shy at the time to tell her it was my essay, I’m sure that she knew she was making a student feel special. It’s a memory I’ll never forget.
The teachers I had in grade school and high school were truly extraordinary. It was clear they were passionate about their profession by the way they cared and affirmed my peers and I. I see a continuation of this passion in my son and daughter-in-law who have dedicated their lives to this profession; a profession that is so important to empowering our youth and strengthening our future. Today I give thanks to all our teachers do."
