STATE REP. ALICE HAUSMAN HONORED FOR WORK ON BEHALF OF THE ARTS

State Representative Alice Hausman (DFL-St. Paul) has been selected to receive the "Arts All Star Award" by the Minnesota Citizens for the Arts for her work on behalf of the non-profit arts in Minnesota. Hausman, chair of the House capital Investment Committee and one of the Legislature's leading supporters of the arts, was chosen for her advocacy on behalf of the non-profit arts during the 2007 legislative session.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to have been recognized with this award," said Hausman. "We can't underestimate the importance of the arts to Minnesota's quality of life, and the positive contributions of the arts to communities across our state."
The 2007 Legislature passed significant increases for arts funding this year, including grants for the Minnesota State Arts Board (MSAB) and for Regional Arts Councils in every Minnesota county, and one-time funding to celebrate Minnesota's Sesquicentennial.
Hausman will receive the award at a special reception in her district on July 18. For information about attending the event, please call the Minnesota Citizens for the Arts at 651-251-0868.
