HAUSMAN TO CHAIR HOUSE CAPITAL INVESTMENT COMMITTEE

St. Paul DFLer will oversee bonding bills

ST. PAUL - Minnesota House Speaker-designate Margaret Anderson Kelliher recently named State Representative Alice Hausman to chair the House Capital Investment Committee for the 2007-08 Legislature. Hausman's committee's primary job is to oversee the bonding bills, legislation that borrows money to pay for building projects and state infrastructure investments. The committee also hears any bill that involves large state construction projects. Hausman previously served as the Lead-DFL member of the committee.

"It's an honor to be appointed to chair a committee that is tasked with helping build Minnesota's future," Hausman said. "We have the opportunity to make long term investments in higher education, the environment, transportation, and local communities across Minnesota."

Hausman will officially take the committee's reigns on January 3. The 2007 bonding bill is likely to be small while the major biannual bonding legislation will be taken up during the 2008 session.
