Get your fishing license now!
Dear Neighbor,
If you have not yet purchased a fishing license, I strongly urge you to do so asap because you may not be able to obtain one starting Friday.
The fiscal year ends Thursday and the state would go into shutdown mode the next day if a budget still is not in place. Among other things, this would mean the processing of fishing licenses would stop until the governor calls a special session and signs a budget. I hope a last-minute budget solution can be reached, but the safe thing to do is get a fishing license now at the usual retail outlets or online at www.dnr.state.mn.us.
If there is any other licensing you need performed, I recommend taking care of that now as well. In the event of a shutdown, you still would be able to renew your drivers license or get tabs at county/city offices. Road tests would not be available, however.
Have a good Fourth of July and be safe as you drive or head out on the water.
Sincerely,
Tom
