HACKBARTH TAKES OATH OF OFFICE

On January 6th I took the oath of office to be your representation in St. Paul. It is an honor and privilege that I do not take lightly. While the debates will be fierce this year, I will consistently vote for you and our shared values.
Balancing the budget is the main focus for this legislative session. While balancing the budget I will work to protect your pocketbook. In these tough times for the families the government should not be reaching further into your wallets. The government needs to live within its means, just like each and every one of us.
As this is a budget year, each committee is tasked with providing a budget for each area of the state government. Most of the work is done through the committee process. This biennium I am pleased to serve on five committees. They include Energy Finance and Policy Division, Environment and Natural Resources Finance Division for which I am the Republican Lead, Environment Policy and Oversight, Finance, and Game, Fish and Forestry Division. I served on these committees last year as well and I am excited to continue to put my experience and knowledge in these areas to work.
