State Representative
The Legislature has chosen to override the veto which the Governor handed down on the transportation bill. This choice, made by 85 Democrats and 6 wayward Republicans, will cost us all.
The gas tax will increase by 8.5 cents per gallon. License tab fees will increase. You’ll see an added wheelage tax. Oh, and we will be forced to pay a higher sales tax as well. This bill is far too large. It overreaches, and it is more than what our families can handle.
The scary part is there are still 38 days the Legislature can meet in session. That means there are still 38 opportunities for the Democrats to raise taxes. They have done it once, and they may do it again. I give you my word that I will stand firm to do what it takes to keep the Democrats out of your wallets.
If you listen to the Democrats we should all be happy to pay these higher taxes. Apparently they believe everyone has a money tree in their back yard. Democrats do not realize that we work hard to earn our money. We are not made of money, it’s not free. It costs us, and we are not a bottomless piggy bank.
It is interesting that the U.S. Congress, controlled by Democrats, is trying to give citizens money in order to stimulate the economy and the Minnesota Legislature wants to take it all away by raising your state taxes.
