State Representative
The Democrats on the Legislative Audit Commission (LAC) have finally lived up to their duties and provided some action. After weeks of political bantering, extreme stubbornness, and throwing out political catch phrases to make the 10 o’clock news they have finally authorized $60 million to be spent on the 35W Bridge replacement.
Through the long delay in funding the Democrats have finally figured out how to provide money, without giving up their attempts to dig further into your wallet or be blamed for holding up projects and finding creative ways to play politics. The full amount requested, $195 million, could have been approved weeks ago. The state has the money, from the federal government, to move full steam ahead with this project, if the LAC would have approved it.
Kelliher, Pogemiller, and Murphy were not able to get Pawlenty to call a special session, so they have decided to continue their political shenanigans and wait until the regular session to try and raise taxes. They keep having meetings to poke at the Pawlenty Administration while demanding a tax increase. Folks, the voting public is not that dumb! In the end the people will see the foolish game the "Democrat" controlled LAC is playing. Only the Democrats would turn a disaster into a political game!
With the decision finally made by the LAC, I predict that issues and news at the State level will slow dramatically. So, with that in mind, you might not hear much from me for the next few weeks. I'll be fishing and hunting and just plain enjoying Minnesotas' great outdoors. Minnesota in the fall, wow, smells wonderful to me!
