State Representative
This past weekend I had the honor and privilege of gathering on the steps of the state capitol with several of my colleges from the House and Senate, along with 7,000 citizens from across the state to rally for tax cuts.
Many of the people there were the average Minnesotan citizen who work 5, or more, days a week, and are trying to achieve the American Dream. These people want to work without government interference so that they can lead a decent life. The motivation for showing up varied for everyone one. For some it was just to pay off their student loans, and buy a home. For others it was to put their children through college, and save up for retirement. No matter what the individual motivator, we all shared the common goal: Get the hand of the government out of our wallet.
As one of my colleges put it, the rally was a call to arms to let the legislators know that we will take back our government. We cannot long survive the over reaching arm of the Democrats who want to take our money, and steal our freedom. The more money which the government takes from us means the more freedom they can take from us. We need to stop the problem, before it gets to large.
The Democrats have proposed a tax increase on everything this session. They want to take more money from your paycheck. They want you to pay more tax on beer. Tax increases on your car, in multiple forms, have been proposed. They even want to tax you for dying.
I believe that the tax cut rally, which included over 18,000 signatures on a petition to reduce taxes, was a great success. The legislators from both sides of the aisle who favor tax increases need to wake up and realize that Government needs to live within its means. The government budget cannot increase faster than the family budget.
The government is supposed to be for the people, not against us.
