REP. DAVIDS TO HOLD JOINT MINNESOTA/WISCONSIN RECIPROCITY MEETING
ST. PAUL – In an effort to advocate for a solution towards reinstating the income tax reciprocity agreement between Minnesota and Wisconsin, State Representative Greg Davids (R-Preston) has called for a meeting between concerned lawmakers and the Minnesota and Wisconsin Departments of Revenue.
“We made good progress on income tax reciprocity last session, but the process is moving slower than I would like,” Davids said. “By meeting face to face I’m hopeful we can find more areas of agreement.
Davids will be conducting the meeting with Wisconsin State Senator Sheila Harsdorf.
The meeting will be held in St. Paul at the State Capitol on February 27. Lawmakers from both states who represent border communities will be invited to attend. The Minnesota/Wisconsin income tax reciprocity agreement ended in 2009, and Davids said there is considerable interest among lawmakers to reinstate the plan.
“The final solution needs to be one that is long lasting,” Davids said. “We need to do this process correctly, and I’m looking forward to holding this meeting in order to gather ideas from lawmakers in both states.”
