DAVIDS URGES RESIDENTS TO SHARE BUDGET REDUCTION IDEAS

ST. PAUL – State Representative Greg Davids (R-Preston) said he was pleased with the recent turnout at legislative listening sessions held throughout the state, but disappointed that everyday residents were denied the chance to speak.

“The listening sessions were designed for all members of the public to share their thoughts about our budget crisis,” Davids said. “But those who worked for a local government or program that utilizes government funding were all allowed to speak first, leaving little time for the concerned citizen or business owner to say what was on their minds. Hundreds left these meetings disappointed.”

Rep. Davids encourages those who were turned away from the listening sessions to contact him with their thoughts and ideas.

“With a $5 billion budget deficit, every idea from every constituent needs careful scrutiny,” Davids said. “I have no doubt that those folks who thought they could speak at these meetings but were not given the chance have some solid ideas to share. And I’d like to hear them all as everyone with an opinion deserves to be heard.”
