ST. PAUL – State Representative Greg Davids (R-Preston) is co-authoring legislation that will bring much needed financial assistance to those residents in Fillmore and Houston counties who are still struggling to recover from flooding in 2007.
“The flood waters may be gone, but the devastation still affects the daily lives of some of our disaster victims,” Davids said. “Passing this legislation continues the Legislature’s commitment to assist those affected by that natural disaster.”
The Federal Emergency Management Agency will provide the State of Minnesota with more than $1 million in disaster relief funding, providing Minnesota matches this amount. Davids’ bill would make that match.
Davids said the disaster relief legislation was recently approved in the House Ways and Means Committee and will now head to the House floor for debate. Davids says final approval for the initiative is expected in the coming days.
