ST. PAUL-State Representative Jim Abeler (District 48B, Anoka) was named by Speaker of the House Margaret Anderson Kelliher to the Human Services Redesign Review Council created under the 2009 State-County Results, Accountability and Service Delivery Reform Act. As one of four veteran legislators on the council, Rep. Abeler will join state and county officials and labor representatives in generating higher performance outcomes in the delivery of human services through greater integration of services.
Representative Abeler is a recognized and longstanding champion of streamlining government to make it more efficient and effective. He joins the Review Council having worked with county commissioners, the Minnesota Department of Human Services and other legislators during the 2009 session to put the State-County Results plan together.
“This plan was crafted as a way to give citizens the most value for their taxpayer dollars. By helping counties better coordinate their financial and human resources, we can give Minnesotans the very best services while making the most of every penny entrusted to us. These reforms make particularly good sense given the challenged state of our economy," stated Abeler.
Representative Abeler is in his 6th term in the legislature. He serves as the vice-chair of the Health and Human Services Finance committee, as well as the minority lead on the Health Care and Human Services Policy committee.
