Sentencing for Nonfelony Offenses

The following shows the sentencing process for a nonfelony (gross misdemeanor or misdemeanor) offense. After a conviction for the offense, the court may require a presentence investigation and report to be completed by a probation officer. The court then pronounces the sentence. In doing so, the court may sentence the person to any of the options identified below.
