Overview

Abolishes the state Designer Selection Board. Under current law, the Board selects designers for state construction and remodeling projects. If the Board were abolished, state agencies would select designers, following state contracting laws. The repeal of the Designer Selection Board is in section 5 of the bill. Sections 1 to 4 strike statutory cross-references to the Board.

1	Professional services covered. Strikes a cross-reference to the law governing the Designer Selection Board, in a law governing qualification-based selection of design professionals.
2	Definitions. Strikes a cross-reference to the law governing the Designer Selection Board, in a law governing design-build contracts.
3	Authority; design-build. Strikes a cross-reference to the law governing the Designer Selection Board, in a law governing design-build contracts.
4	Construction manager at risk. Strikes a cross-reference to the law governing the Designer Selection Board, in a law governing the construction manager at risk selection process. Requires the commissioner of administration, instead of the Board, to select the primary designer under this process.
5	Repealer. Repeals Minnesota Statutes, section 16B.33, which creates the Designer Selection Board and assigns duties to the Board.
6	Effective date. Effective July 1, 2009.
