Overview

This bill expands the scope of the superintendent of the BCA's responsibility to conduct background checks pursuant to requests by property owners on prospective property managers.

Section
1 Procedures. Requires the superintendent of the BCA, pursuant to a request by a rental property owner for a background check on a prospective property manager, to conduct a search of (1) the national criminal records repository and (2) the criminal justice data communications network records in states where a prospective property manager has resided in the past ten years, if the property manager has resided in Minnesota for less than ten (10) years. Presently the statute only requires national background checks if the prospective property manager has resided in Minnesota for less than five years.
2 Form. Amends existing law regarding requests for background checks to reflect the residency period change from five to ten years in section 1.
