Provides unemployment benefits to employees participating in the WIRED program similar to those available under the Shared Work Program. Shared Work provides unemployment benefits to compensate for an employee’s lost income when an employer reduces work hours as an alternative to layoffs.

Benefit eligibility. Directs that unemployment benefits are payable to a person in the Workforce Investment in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) program based on the amount of the worker’s reduced hours as though the employee qualified under the Shared Work Program. Like the Shared Work Program, participation requires a written plan signed by the employer and submitted to and approved by the commissioner of employment and economic development. |
