Writer - House Public Information Services (Temporary Position)


Full-time temporary positions are available with the Minnesota House of Representatives as writers for the nonpartisan Public Information Services office.

Duties are to provide online content during the 2024 legislative session, including on-site, same-day committee and floor session coverage. Longer, in-depth feature stories will also be sought. Strong reporting and writing skills are required, and news reporting experience is strongly encouraged. Must be able to write clearly and quickly about complex subjects.

Understanding of state government, legislative and office procedures a must. Some long and irregular hours required.

Entry salary range is $27.52-$33.02 per hour, commensurate with experience. These positions are anticipated to begin in early February and run approximately through the end of May, depending on session length.

The office supports the mission of the House of Representatives through news and information services, including reporting on committees and floor sessions, informational publications, photography, and television coverage. View department information at www.house.mn.gov/hinfo/hinfo.asp.
