Television Production Technicians - House Public Information Services (Temporary Position)


A full-time temporary position is available with the Minnesota House of Representatives as television production technician for the nonpartisan Public Information Services office. Candidates with part-time availability may be considered.

Duties are to assist in production and technical operations for video coverage of the House during the 2023 legislative session. The House operates two full-capability TV control rooms for production of committee hearings, floor sessions and press conferences, and three workstations using the Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) Studio production and streaming software for production of committee hearings and press conferences. Staff roles include that of technical director, OBS operator, audio/camera robotics operator, graphics operator, streaming producer, and video file processor.

Responsibilities include technical direction of television production, operating audio and graphics systems, producing OBS-based events, technical directing of OBS-based events, processing and uploading video files, and operation of robotic cameras.

An ideal candidate will have experience with technical directing, character generator systems, working in video control rooms, streaming/video conferencing software, and have a background in all aspects and techniques of live television production. Some long and irregular hours required.

Entry salary range is $17.31-$27.70 per hour, commensurate with experience. This position is anticipated to begin in early February and run approximately through the end of May, depending on session length.
