Research Consultant - DFL Caucus


We are seeking a full-time Research Consultant for the DFL Caucus in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Responsibilities include working with House committees, individual DFL legislators and legislative staff to summarize legislation, draft amendments, track bills, staff committee hearings, and prepare policy memos. Must also maintain communication with DFL legislators, appropriate DFL staff and other relevant stakeholders. Committee assignments are not final but could include House committees for Environment & Natural Resources and Agriculture.

We prefer someone who 1) is familiar with the work of the Legislature and the demands of the legislative session, 2) has a strong interest in working on policy issues for the House DFL Caucus, 3) has demonstrated ability to provide research and analysis; (4) has excellent written and oral communication skills; and 5) has a masters or law degree or equivalent experience in a pertinent field. Must have the ability to work long and irregular hours (including evenings and weekends) during the legislative session.

Entry salary $2,295.56 semi-monthly ($55,093.44 annually) commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits.
