Legislative Analyst - House Research Department


The nonpartisan Research Department of the Minnesota House of Representatives is accepting applications for one Legislative Analyst position. This analyst will work as a generalist on a variety of public policy issues, potentially including public finance, tax increment financing, and housing finance and policy.

This position is regular, full-time, with benefits and has an anticipated start date in late November.

A candidate must have either a Master’s Degree or be a licensed attorney. Preference will be given to a candidate who has: (1) excellent human relations and teamwork skills; (2) excellent oral and written communication skills; (3) the ability to communicate legal or policy information to an audience without such training; and (4) interest in public policy and government. Knowledge of the legislative process is desirable but not required.

The House offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience. Please state any salary requirements in your cover letter.

The Research Department is a nonpartisan office charged with providing research and legal services to the entire membership of the House of Representatives. Legislative Analysts work independently and in small teams, providing bill and amendment drafting; research and analysis concerning laws and government policies, programs, and finances; and related staff assistance for House committees and members. Full-time position; excellent benefits; salary commensurate with experience; entry salary range: $2,723.93 to $3,268.72 semi-monthly.
