MINUTES

Representative Mahoney, Chair of Committee on Jobs and Economic Development Finance and Policy, called the meeting to order at 12: 35 PM, Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll; and a quorum was present.

Presentation by the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) on the potential impacts of federal "sequestration" on DEED related initiatives and programs.
Testifiers: Director of Vocational Rehabilitation, and Director of Unemployment, Rick Keller-Gerry (Check names and positions).

Rep. Metsa moved HF882 (Metsa) State involvement in trade policies provided for, to be laid over for possible inclusion on the Jobs Omnibus Bill.

Testifier: Josh Wise, Director of the Minnesota Fair Trade Coalition; Kim Babine, Legislative Director of DEED; Kent Allen, Director of Materials Management, the Department of Administration.

Rep. Metsa moved HF883 (Metsa) Trade policy advisory group created, be passed and moved to Government Operations.

Testifier: Josh Wise, Fair Trade Coalition; Richard Ryan, District 77 Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Rep. Mahoney moved an oral amendment to HF883 as follows:
Page 1, line 10, delete "11" and insert "12." Motion prevailed.

Rep. Metsa renewed the motion to pass and re-refer HF883 as amended to Gov Ops. Motion prevailed.

Rep. Metsa moved to pass the February 2, 2013 minutes. Motion prevailed.

Chair Mahoney adjourned the meeting at 1:57 PM.
