MINUTES

Representative Simon, Chair of Committee on Elections, called the meeting to order at 12:30pm on February 7, 2013 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Members present:

A quorum was present.

Rep. Halverson moves approval of February 5, 2013 minutes. The motion prevailed.

HF224 (Erickson) mail balloting authorization modified.

Chair Simon moved that HF224 be recommended to pass and placed on the general register.

Rep. Erickson presented HF224.

Chair Simon moved oral amendment to line 1.7 strike "and" and insert ", if the town or city is" and line 1.8 after "473.121" insert a comma. The motion prevailed.

Chair Simon laid over HF224.

Vice Chair Halverson assumed Chair at 12:52pm.

HF193 (Simon) Absentee ballot voting eligibility requirements modified, absentee ballot application or obtainment procedures modified, and county auditors required to explain ballot changes to voters with ongoing or permanent absentee ballot status.

Rep. Simon presented HF193.

Rep. Simon moved H0193DE1 amendment. The motion prevailed.

Chair Halverson laid over HF193.

Rep. Simon resumed the Chair at 1:30pm.
