HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES EIGHTY-SEVENTH SESSION

GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS AND ELECTIONS COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative Peppin, Chair of the Government Operations and Elections Committee, called the forty sixth meeting to order at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2012, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Murray moved that the minutes of February 15, 2012 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1975 (Drazkowski) State government outside contract restrictions removed.

Chair Peppin renewed her motion that HF1975 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the State Government Finance Committee.

The committee heard testimony on HF1975.

Chair Peppin renewed her motion that HF1975 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the State Government Finance Committee.

HF1976 (Drazkowski) Federal E-Verify program use by state appointing authorities required.

Representative Murray moved that moved that HF1976 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the State Government Finance Committee.

The committee heard testimony on HF1976.

Representative Winkler moved to lay the bill on the table and requested a roll call.

There being 6 ayes, 7 nays and 2 members absent, THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL.

Representative Murray renewed his motion that HF1976 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the State Government Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2007 (Kahn) Consolidating counties and rationalizing other internal boundaries feasibility study required, and money appropriated.

Chair Peppin renewed her motion that HF2007 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the State Government Finance Committee.

Representative McFarlane moved the H2007A2 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The committee heard testimony on HF2007, as amended.
Representative Phyllis Kahn

Representative Quam moved to table the bill. THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL.

Chair Peppin renewed her motion that HF2007, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the State Government Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:57 A.M.
