1.8    "Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 201.12, subdivision 1, is amended to read:
1.9    Subdivision 1. Notice of registration. (a) To prevent fraudulent voting and to
1.10eliminate excess names, the county auditor may, except where required by paragraph (b),
1.11 mail to any registered voter a notice stating the voter's name and address as they appear
1.12in the registration files. The notice shall request the voter to notify the county auditor if
1.13there is any mistake in the information.
1.14(b) The notice provided in paragraph (a) must be sent upon acceptance of a
1.15registration application from any voter who has not been previously registered to vote
1.16in Minnesota. In addition to the requirements of paragraph (a), the notice sent to a voter
1.17under this paragraph must inform the voter of the requirements for voting in the polling
1.18place, including the photo identification requirements contained in section 204C.10, and
1.19provide information to assist the voter in acquiring a voter identification card, if necessary,
1.20under section 201.017."
