COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Connie Bernardy, Chair of the Higher Education Finance and Policy Committee, called the virtual committee meeting to order at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 pursuant to House rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Sandstede moved to approve the minutes from March 23, 2021. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Dr. Bruce Corrie presented an overview of the recommendations of the Select Committee on Racial Justice.

HF 2393 (Mariani) - Higher education state grant program parameters modified, state college and university developmental education restrictions modified, Office of Higher Education and the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities new grant program created, reports required, and money appropriated.

Chair Bernardy moved that HF 2393 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Higher Education Finance & Policy Omnibus Bill.

Representative Mariani presented HF 2393 to the committee.

Chair Bernardy renewed her motion that HF 2393 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Higher Education Finance & Policy Omnibus Bill. The bill was laid over.

HF 1895 (Sandstede) - University of Minnesota Natural Resources Research Institute funding increased, and money appropriated.

Representative Sandstede moved that HF 1895 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Higher Education Finance & Policy Omnibus Bill.

Representative Sandstede presented HF 1895 to the committee.
