MINUTES

Representative Hansen, Chair of the Environment and Natural Resources Finance Division, called the meeting to order at 12:45 P.M. on January 31st, 2019, in Hearing Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Chair Hansen called the meeting to order at 12:45 P.M. A quorum was present.

Representative Fabian moved to adopt the minutes of January 29th, 2019. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Hansen provided information for the good of the order about the Explore Minnesota Tourism Reception on Monday, February 4th, 2019.

Nora Slawik, Chair, Metropolitan Council, provided a brief overview of her role as chair and the council as a whole.

Leisa Thompson, Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) General Manager, provided information on activities related to protection and restoration of the environment.

Lisa Barajas, Community Development Director, Metropolitan Council, provided information on programs related to parks and trails under council purview.

Sarah Strommen, Commissioner, Department of Natural Resources, provided an overview of her role as commissioner and the department as a whole.

Bob Meier, Assistant Commissioner, and Mary Robison, Chief Financial Officer, Department of Natural Resources, gave testimony on department budgeting and finances.

The following bills were referred by memo January 29, 2019:

To the Division on Water:
Tuesday, January 29, 2019
HF 321 (Lislegard) Aurora and White; mine pit improvements funding provided, and money appropriated.
HF 408 (Poppe) Austin; Cedar River Watershed District funding provided, bonds issued, and money appropriated.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:15 P.M.
