EDUCATION POLICY COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative Rena Moran, Chair of the Health and Human Services Policy Committee, called the joint meeting of the Health and Human Services Policy Committee and the Education Policy Committee to order at 2:33 PM on February 6, 2019 in Room 200 of the State Office Building. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Presentations:

Joan Brandt, Child and family Health Division Director, Minnesota Department of Health, gave a presentation on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in Minnesota.

Representative Cheryl Youakim, Chair of the Education Policy Committee, assumed the gavel at 3:27 PM.

Greta Callahan, Teacher, Minneapolis Public Schools, and Michelle Viera Keleny, School Social Worker, Saint Paul Public Schools, presented their insights on having students with high ACE scores in the classroom.

The meeting adjourned at 3:58 PM.
