MINUTES

Representative Peppin, Chair of the Rules and Legislative Administration Committee, called the meeting to order at 11:02 A.M. on May 15, 2017, in Room 120 of the State Capitol.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Peppin called the meeting to order at 11:02 A.M. A quorum was present.

Representative Baker moved to approve the minutes of May 12, 2017. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Peppin moved the Calendar for the Day, May 17, 2017. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting recessed at 11:03 A.M.

The meeting reconvened at 1:56 P.M.

Representative Peppin moved that Joint Rule 2.03 be waived for House File 238 and that it be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Peppin moved that Joint Rule 2.03 be waived for House File 565 and that it be re-referred to the Committee on State Government Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Waiver of Joint Rule 2.03 Regarding Deadlines: HF238 (Nash) Use of force in defense of home and person law clarified, self-defense and defense of home laws codified and extended, duty to retreat in self-defense outside of home eliminated, boundaries of dwelling for purposes of self-defense expanded, presumption in the case of a person entering a dwelling or occupied vehicle by stealth or force created, and right to defend against entry extended.
