MINUTES


Representative Schomacker, Chair of the Health and Human Services Reform Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:22 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2017, in Room 200 of the State Office Building. A quorum was not present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present at 8:22 a.m.

HF714 (Miller) Child sex trafficking prevention director duties modified; forfeited money from public safety commissioner transferred to health commissioner; shelter, services, and other activities provided for sexually exploited youth and youth at risk of sexual exploitation; and money appropriated.

Representative Schomacker moved HF714 be recommended to be re-referred to the Committee on Public Safety.

Testimony was heard regarding HF714.

Representative Schomacker renewed his motion that HF714 be recommended to be re-referred to the Committee on Public Safety. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Schomacker officially called the meeting to order at 8:39 a.m.

Representative Gruenhagen moved to approve the minutes from February 2, 2017. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF713 (Miller) Statewide sex trafficking victim strategic plan and report required, and money appropriated.

Representative Schomacker moved HF713 be recommended to be re-referred to the Committee on Public Safety.

Testimony was heard regarding HF713.

Chief David Bentrud, Waite Park Police Department;
Janelle Kendall, Stearns County Attorney.

Representative Schomacker renewed his motion that HF713 be recommended to be re-referred to the Committee on Public Safety. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
HF156 (Gruenhagen) Charity health care service deduction allowed.

Representative Gruenhagen moved HF156 be recommended to be re-referred to the Committee on Taxes.

Representative Gruenhagen moved the A1 Amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Testimony was heard regarding HF156, as amended.

Dave Renner, Minnesota Medical Association;
Dr. Charles Sawyer, Minnesota Chiropractic Association;
Nicholas Dougherty, Minnesota Acupuncture Association.

Representative Gruenhagen renewed his motion that HF156, as amended, be recommended to be re-referred to the Committee on Taxes. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
