GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS AND ELECTIONS COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative Peppin, Chair of the Government Operations and Elections Committee, called the sixty first meeting to order at 10:19 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Hancock moved that the minutes of March 14, March 15, and March 16, 2012 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

SF1492 (Wardlow) Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day designated date changed.

Chair Peppin moved that SF1492 be recommended to pass and sent to the General Register.

The committee heard testimony on SF1492.

Representative Murray assumed the gavel at 10:23 a.m.

Chair Peppin renewed her motion that SF1492 be recommended to pass and sent to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

SF1135 (Gottwalt) Maternal and Child Health Advisory Task Force extended.

Representative Murray moved that SF1135 be recommended to pass and sent to the General Register.

Representative Murray moved the S1135DE1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED, AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The committee heard testimony on SF1135, as amended.

HF2334 (Laine) Local government employees authorized to participate in group long-term care insurance program.

Chair Peppin moved that HF2334 be recommended to pass and sent to the General Register.

HF2863 (Scott) Legislative Commission on Metropolitan Government duties added, Metropolitan Council fiscal year starting July 1 provided, and legislative approval of the council’s budgets required.

Chair Peppin moved that HF2863 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Ways and Means Committee.

Chair Peppin moved the H2863A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED, AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The committee heard testimony on HF2863, as amended.
