GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS AND ELECTIONS COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative Peppin, Chair of the Government Operations and Elections Committee, called the fifty third meeting to order at 10:17 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Simon moved that the minutes of March 1, 2012 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2320 (Hilty) Carlton County; tax levy authorized for cemetery purposes.

Representative Scalze moved that HF2320 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Property and Local Tax Division.

The committee heard testimony on HF2320.

Representative Scalze renewed her motion that HF2320 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Property and Local Tax Division. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2244 (O’Driscoll) Permanent School Fund Advisory Committee changed into a legislative commission, and commission authority granted to employ a director to oversee, manage and administer school trust lands.

Representative O’Driscoll moved that HF2244 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Ways and Means Committee.

Representative O’Driscoll moved the H2244DE3 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED, AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The committee heard testimony on HF2244, as amended.
