MINUTES

Representative Peppin Chair of the Government Operations and Elections Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2011 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

H.F. 554 (Johnson) Mississippi River Parkway Commission expiration date changed.

Representative Greene moved that H.F. 554 be recommended to pass and placed on the General Register.

H.F. 1205 (Holberg) County park fee restriction modified.

Representative Simon moved that H.F. 1205 be recommended to pass and placed on the General Register.

H.F. 1269 (McFarlane) Campaign finance and public disclosure law definition of "public official" changed.

Representative McFarlane moved that H.F. 1269 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register.

Representative Quam assumed the gavel at 10:29 a.m.

Representative McFarlane moved the A11-0329 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Hornstein moved that H.F. 1411 be recommended to pass and placed on the General Register.

Representative Hornstein moved the H1411DE1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Sanders renewed his motion that H.F. 1036 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the State Government Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND H.F. 1036 WAS RECOMMENDED TO PASS AND RE-REFERRED TO THE STATE GOVERNMENT FINANCE COMMITTEE.


H.F. 1376 (Leidiger) E-Verify use required by state contractors.

Representative O’Driscoll moved that H.F. 1376 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on State Government Finance.

Representative O’Driscoll moved the H1376A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Greene moved the following oral amendment:

Page 1, delete lines 11 and 12 and insert: "EFFECTIVE DATE. This section is effective when the commissioner of management and budget determines that the e-verify system produces accurate results."
THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative O’Driscoll renewed his motion that H.F. 1376 be recommended to pass, as amended, and re-referred to the Committee on State Government Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED. H.F 1376 WAS RECOMMENDED TO PASS, AS AMENDED, AND RE-REFERRED TO THE COMMITTEE ON STATE GOVERNMENT FINANCE.
