EDUCATION REFORM

MINUTES

A quorum was present and Representative Erickson, Chair of the Education Reform Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:13 AM on April 26, 2011, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Moran moved that the minutes from the committee meeting on April 14, 2011, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

HF 1487 (Myhra) Statewide literacy initiative formulated to ensure students succeed in achieving grade-level reading proficiency by the end of grade 3, and data provided to improve student outcomes.

Representative Myhra moved that HF 1487 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Education Reform omnibus bill. Representative Myhra moved the H1487A3 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Myhra presented the bill and stood for questions.

The committee heard testimony for the bill.

Chair Erickson called the meeting back to order at 6:05 PM in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

CHAIR ERICKSON LAID OVER HF 1487, AS AMENDED, FOR POSSIBLE INCLUSION IN THE EDUCATION REFORM OMNIBUS BILL.

HF 1381 (Erickson) Prekindergarten through grade 12 education policy provided, including general education, education excellence, special programs, facilities and technology, early childhood education, and student transportation.

Chair Erickson moved HF 1381 to be laid over as the vehicle for the Education Reform Omnibus Bill. Chair Erickson presented the bill and stood for questions.

The committee heard testimony for the bill.
