MINUTES

Representative Westrom, Chair of the Civil Law Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:19 pm on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Holberg moved to approve the minutes from Monday, April 18, 2011. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 1119 (Kiffmeyer) Voter eligibility requirements conformed to constitutional requirements.

Chair Westrom moved that HF 1119 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Government Operations and Elections Committee.

Representative Simon requested a roll call.

Chair Westrom amended the original motion on HF 1119 to a motion that HF 1119 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee.

Chair Westrom renewed the motion that HF 1119 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 770 (Mazorol) Interest of on verdicts, awards, and judgments regulated.

Representative Mazorol moved that HF 770 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee.

Representative Scott assumed the gavel at 9:42 pm.
Chair Westrom reassumed the gavel at 9:44 pm

Chair moved H0770-A2 amendment.

Oral amendment to H0770-A2 amendment as follows:
Page 1, delete line 3, and insert " Page 2, like 27, after " yield" insert "plus eight percentage points if the judgement or award is over $50, 000," THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

HF951 (Mazorol) Uniform Disclaimer of Property Interests Act provisions changed, updated, and clarified.

Representative Mazorol moved HF951 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee.

Representative Mazorol moved HF952 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee.
