MINUTES


Representative Michael Nelson, Chair of the Local Government Division, called the first meeting to order at 4:31 P.M. on January 26, 2009, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

HF101 (Kalin): Border city development zone powers established, and money appropriated for Taylors Falls

Representative Kalin moved approval of HF101 before the committee to pass and be re-referred to the State & Local Government Operations Reform, Technology & Elections Committee

Testifying on behalf of the bill:

Representative Kalin renewed his motion to pass HF101 and re-refer to the State & Local Government Operations Reform, Technology & Elections Committee

The motion prevailed.

HF14 (Hamilton): Process provided to make the office of county auditor-treasurer appointive for Jackson County

Representative Sterner moved approval of HF14 before the committee to pass and be re-referred to the State & Local Government Operations Reform, Technology & Elections Committee

Representative Hilty moved an oral amendment to HF14.
Page 1, line 1.18, change the word "must" to "may"

Representative Hilty withdrew his amendment.

Representative Sterner renewed his motion to pass HF14 and re-refer to the State & Local Government Operations Reform, Technology & Elections Committee

The motion prevailed.

The meeting adjourned at 5:22 P.M.
