MINUTES


Representative Kathy Brynaert, member of the K-12 Education Policy & Oversight Committee, unofficially called the fortieth meeting to order at 8:33 AM on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in the Basement hearing room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll:

A quorum was not present.

Chair Brynaert welcomed members to committee and explained the agenda for the hearing.

Mr. Kent Pekel, Director of the College Readiness Consortium, University of Minnesota, presented the lessons learned on high school assessment and accountability.

Chair Brynaert officially called the hearing to order at 9:00 AM. A quorum was present.

Rep. McFarlane moved that the minutes from February 11, 2010 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.

Questions and discussion followed.

Dr. Dirk Mattson, Director of Assessments and Testing, Minnesota Department of Education, answered questions about Minnesota’s assessments and accountability, along with Mr. Pekel.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 AM.
