MINUTES


Representative Otremba, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:48 P.M. on, February 11, 2009, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Kath moved approval of the minutes from February 9, 2009.
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.

Representative Otremba moves that HF510 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.

HF510 (Juhnke) relating to agriculture; changing certain provisions of the pesticide control law, and the fertilizer, soil amendment, and plant amendment law

Representative Otremba moved the H0510A2 amendment.
THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The following people testified on HF510:

Annalee Garletz, Environment and Natural Resources Policy Analyst, Association of Minnesota Counties
Bill Bond, Executive Director, Minnesota Crop Production Retailers

Representative Otremba moved HF510, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Eken moves that HF598 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the General Register.

HF598 (Eken) relating to agriculture; changing certain provisions of the nursery law; amending Minnesota Statute 2008, sections 18H.09;18H.10;

The following people testified on HF598:

Geir Friisoe, Director of Plant Protection Division, Minnesota Department of Agriculture

Representative Eken renewed his motion that HF598 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the General Register.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Faust took over the gavel at 3:20 PM.

Representative Faust moves that HF280 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.

HF280 (Otremba) relating to human services; requesting the commissioner of human services to resubmit for federal approval the elimination of depreciation add-back for self-employed farmers in MinnesotaCare.

The following people testified on HF280:

Representative Terry Morrow

Representative Faust renewed his motion that HF280 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.
