MINUTES


Representative Marquart, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:04 AM on Friday, January 19th, 2007, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

Committee Legislative Assistant Paul Cumings noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Dan Larson, Administrator for the Minnesota Rural County Caucus, gave testimony about the relationship between property taxes and rural county governments in Minnesota.

Representative Loeffler moved approval of minutes for Friday, January 12, 2007. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Keith Carlson, Executive Director for the Minnesota Inter-County Association, gave testimony about the relationship between property taxes and county governments.

Kirk Schneidewind, of the Minnesota School Boards Association, gave testimony about the relationship between property taxes and school districts.

Sam Walseth, Legislative Director for the Minnesota Rural Education Association, gave testimony about the relationship between property taxes and rural school districts.

Scott Croonquist, Executive Director for the Association for Metropolitan School Districts, gave testimony about the relationship between property taxes and metropolitan school districts.

Attorney Kent Sulem and Executive Director David Fricke of the Minnesota Association of Townships gave testimony about the relationship between property taxes and township units in Minnesota.

Kevin Paap, President of the Minnesota Farm Bureau, gave testimony about the relationship between property taxes and agricultural land and farmers in Minnesota.

Thom Peterson, Legislative Director for the Minnesota Farmers Union, gave testimony about the relationship between property taxes and agricultural land and farmers in Minnesota.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:29 AM.
