Representative Ann Lenczewski, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:20 P.M. on Monday, March 26, 2007, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

HF0031 Mullery Public safety retiree pensions federal tax rules conformity provided, and pension funds authorized to withhold and pay insurance premiums.

Representative Mullery moved HF0031 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Government Operations.

Representative Mullery moved to amend HF0031 as follows:
Page 1, delete section 1
Page 2, delete section 2
Amend the title accordingly
Renumber the sections in order and
Correct internal references.
THE MOTION PREVAILED - THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

HF1532 Hilstrom Public safety retiree pensions federal tax rules conformity provided.

Representative Hilstrom moved HF1532 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus Tax Bill.

William Gillespie (Executive Director, Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association), Richard Nelson (Executive Vice President, Minneapolis Retired Police Association and Minneapolis Pension Council), Eric Hyland (Minnesota Chiefs of Police) Mary Vanek (Executive Director, PERA) and Dave Bergstrom (Executive Director, Minnesota State Retirement System) testified on HF0031 and HF1532.

Representative Mullery moved HF0031, as amended, be recommended to pass be re-referred to the committee on Government Operations. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Anderson (Windom Park Neighborhood Association), Bob Miller (Director, NRP), Gene Ranieri (Intergovernmental Relations Director, City of Minneapolis) testified on HF0822.

Representative Lanning moved HF1789 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus Tax Bill.

Joseph Scherber (Hassan Township), Mayor Doug Anderson (City of Dayton), Kathleen Pote (I-94 West Chamber) and Elwyn Tinklenberg and (some other guy) testified on HF1789.
