TRANSPORTATION AND TRANSIT SUBCOMMITTEE

MINUTES


Representative Hornstein, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order
at 2:22 P.M. on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.
HF 3211 (Koenen) Trunk highway statewide snow removal standards required, etc. Betsy Parker, Director of Government Affairs MnDOT and Steven Lund, MnDOT State Maintenance Engineer, spoke to the legislation. Rep. Hornstein moved that HF 3211 pass without recommendation and be returned to the Transportation Finance committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
Rep. Severson moved the minutes of February 20, 2008. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
HF 2628 (Norton) Provisional driver's license requirements modified. Gail Weinholzer, AAA Director and Debbie Prudhomme, Driving Schools of the Americas, spoke to the legislation. Rep. Hornstein moved to return HF 2628 to the Transportation Finance committee for possible inclusion in the Omnibus Transportation Policy bill. THE MOTION PREVAILED

HF 3124 (Junke) Coffee shop qualification clarified in determining eligibility for specific service signs. Erik Rudeen, Government Affairs, MnDOT answered committee questions.
Rep. Hornstein moved to return HF 3124 to the Transportation Finance committee for possible inclusion in the Omnibus Transportation Policy bill. THE MOTION PREVAILED

HF 2372 (Eken) Trailer and tractor semiannual registration established. The bill was held over for the next subcommittee hearing.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:13 P.M.
