MINUTES


Representative Michael Paymar, Chair of the Public Safety Finance Division Committee, called the thirty-second meeting to order at 5:05 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2007 in Room 400N of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

HF1251 (Atkins) Authorizing direct actions and imposing direct liability on certain insurers in certain actions; preserving certain claims; regulating actions involving certain insurance practices; appropriating money.

Rep. Atkins presented HF1251.

Quorum was present at 5:44 p.m.

Chair Paymar moved that HF1251 be heard and laid over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Finance Division omnibus bill.

Chair Paymar moved the A07-0537 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Paymar renewed the motion that HF1251, as amended, be passed and laid over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Finance Division omnibus bill.

Rep. Bigham moved approval of the minutes for March 22, 2007 as corrected. After HF1440 (Khan) delete "Adjusting the monetary threshold for certain property offenses".
Insert " Certificates of pay equity compliance required as condition for certain state contracts, and money appropriated." MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES ARE APPROVED.

HF0867 (Bigham) Burglary in the second-degree crime definition modified.

Chair Paymar moved that HF0867 be heard and laid over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Finance Division omnibus bill.

Rep. Bigham presented HF0867.

Chair Paymar renewed the motion that HF0867 be re-referred to the Committee on Finance with a recommended re-referral to the Committee on State Government Finance. MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1465 (Kohls) Commissioner of Corrections required to develop a standard formula for calculating the per diem cost in county and regional jails.

Rep. Kohls moved HF1465 to be heard and laid over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Finance Division omnibus bill.

Rep. Kohls presented HF1465.

Chair Paymar renewed the motion that HF1342 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Finance Division omnibus bill.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
