MINUTES


Representative Michael Paymar, Chair of the Public Safety Finance Division Committee, called the twenty-fourth meeting to order at 8:06 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007 in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

HF1461 (Smith) Regulating interest on verdicts, awards, and judgments, modifying the method used to calculate interest.

Rep. Smith presented HF1461.

A quorum was present at 8:11 a.m.

Rep. Smith moved HF1461 to be heard and laid over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Finance Division omnibus bill.

Rep. Smith moved an oral amendment to HF1461 as follows:
Page 3, line 3.4 -3.6 delete "sec.2"
THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

HF0950 (Carlson) Appropriating money for squad car camera technology upgrade grants

Chair Paymar moved HF0950 be heard and laid over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Finance Division omnibus bill.

Rep. Carlson presented HF0950.

Representative Carlson moved a handwritten amendment (as follows). THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Page 2, line 2.8 -2.14, delete "sec. 2"
Page 2, line 2.16 - 2.17, delete “Section 1 is effective retroactively from July 1, 2006. Section 2 is effective the day following final enactment."
insert “Section 1 is effective July 1, 2007"

Chair Paymar moved HF0950 be laid over for possible, as amended, inclusion in the Public Safety Finance Division omnibus bill.

Representative Zellars moved approval of the minutes for February 22, February 27, March 6, March 8, 2007. MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES ARE APPROVED.

HF1510 (Lesch) Appropriating money to replace eliminated federal funds

Rep. Lesch moved HF1510 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Finance Division omnibus bill.

Rep. Lesch moved the H0693DE1 amendment (attached). THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
